Respira closes $2.8m round to continue chest wearable development

Respira Labs, a medical technology company specializing in respiratory care led by Dr. María Artunduaga, has raised $2.8M to continue developing and producing a wearable device that helps patients monitor lung function. The startup has been awarded $1M in pre-seed funding by Zentynel Frontier Investments, VentureWell, ImpactAssets and some additional angels from the United States and Latin America, and $1.8 million in grants by the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Institutes for Health (NIH).
Respira Labs’ device Sylvee focuses on early detection of lung function deterioration, which can prevent hospitalization and death of millions of people living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma and COVID-19 diseases.
