Latina-Led Respira Labs Raises $2.8 Million to Revolutionize Respiratory Care for COPD, COVID-19 and Asthma Patients

Respira Labs raised $1 million in pre-seed funding led by Zentynel Frontier Investments with participation by VentureWell, ImpactAssets, and several angel investors from the United States and Latin America. The company was also awarded an additional $1.8 million in grants from Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), The National Science Foundation (NSF), The National Institutes for Health (NIH), and other startup prizes.
Dr. MarĂa Artunduaga, founder and CEO of Respira Labs, is grateful to the organizations that chose to invest in her company for the development of a wearable device that can help respiratory patients monitor their lung health. The device, named Sylvee after her grandmother, seeks to prevent hospitalizations and deaths of millions of people living with lung conditions around the world, an issue that is affecting an increasing number of people after COVID-19.
